Overview
Industrial power supplies, welding machines, induction heaters and UPS systems convert and condition large amounts of electrical power, often at high frequency and high current. In these applications the switching devices are pushed hard, and the gate driver must keep the switching clean while protecting the module against the transients of the load. A welding arc, a resonant tank or a faulted output can all stress the power stage, and a driver without robust protection becomes the weak link. Firstack driver cores and driver solutions provide the precise timing and the comprehensive protection these converters need, and BeiLuo supplies them with genuine traceability and FAE support.
The High-Frequency Power Stage
A modern inverter welder rectifies the mains, then drives a high-frequency transformer through a full bridge or half bridge switching at 20-40 kHz. The switching frequency shrinks the transformer and output inductor dramatically compared with a line-frequency machine, which is why inverter welders are so much lighter. The IGBTs must tolerate the rapid current changes of the arc and the reflected energy of the welding process. A 2FHC0435 driver core provides a 4 W drive power and a 35 A peak output with active clamping, which controls the turn-off spike when the arc current changes quickly. The digital core keeps the characteristic configurable, so the designer can trade EMI against switching loss.
EMI and Layout
At these frequencies, the commutation loop and the gate loop dominate EMI and losses. A digital driver produces lower electromagnetic interference than an analog driver, but the layout still matters: shorten the commutation loop, keep the gate return tight and measure overshoot at the module terminals. Tuning the gate resistors is the second lever, and a driver with configurable gate resistor positions makes it practical.
Induction Heating
Induction heating uses a resonant tank driven by the IGBT bridge. The resonant current is nearly sinusoidal, so the devices switch close to zero voltage or zero current, which reduces switching loss and supports high frequency. The driver still needs to tolerate the high circulating current and the reflected energy, and the 2FHC0660 provides 6 W and 3300 V for the high-voltage modules used in larger heaters.
UPS and High-Current DC Supplies
UPS systems and high-current DC supplies use press-pack modules in demanding, long-life installations. The SK08110 driver solution provides a highly robust DC/DC that withstands a gate-emitter short, di/dt protection, active clamping and NTC sampling, which raises field reliability. Because the DC/DC is the most common failure point of a gate driver, this robustness directly improves the availability of the power supply.
